I am Lois Chisompola—lawyer, mediator, consultant, speaker, mother of four, and author of The Other Side of Broken: Navigating Grief from Devastation to Hope.
I was born to Reverend Evarist Chisompola and Pastor Elizabeth Chisompola, who nurtured in me a deep faith, a love for God, and a lifelong devotion to Scripture. Having spent much of my life within the church, I developed a deep appreciation for the ways faith shapes our understanding of both joy and suffering. That foundation would become an anchor in seasons I never expected to face.
For many years, I helped others navigate conflict, uncertainty, and difficult transitions through my work as a lawyer, mediator, and advisor. Yet some of life’s deepest lessons came not from the courtroom or boardroom, but from my own journey through profound loss, disappointment, and heartbreak.
The Other Side of Broken was born from those experiences.
This book is not the story of someone who mastered grief. It is the story of someone who walked through it. Through the loss of loved ones, shattered dreams, personal disappointments, and seasons of waiting, I discovered that healing is not about avoiding pain—it is about learning how to carry it, surrender it, and ultimately be transformed by it.
Drawing from Scripture, personal stories, and hard-won lessons, I explore what I call a theology of suffering: the belief that God is present not only in our victories but also in our valleys. My hope is to offer fellow grievers a practical and compassionate pathway from devastation to hope, helping them find meaning, purpose, and restoration on the other side of brokenness.
Beyond my professional work, I am a deep thinker, a passionate reader, a lover of stories, and a firm believer that even our deepest wounds can become places of growth and purpose.
Professionally, I serve as the Principal Partner of CNL Legal and lead CLo Advisory and Integrated Solutions, where I work with individuals, businesses, and institutions in the areas of law, governance, dispute resolution, strategy, and advisory services. I am also a trained mediator, international ADR fellow, trainer, and advocate for restorative approaches to conflict and healing.
Whether you have arrived here because you are grieving, searching for hope, seeking wisdom, or simply curious about the journey behind the book, I am glad you are here.
My prayer is that this space reminds you of one simple truth:
Brokenness is not the end of your story. There is life, healing, and hope on the other side.
